Not too many couple’s stories start with the grooms first thought about the bride being that she is a little too much to handle (or at least not too many people would admit it!). But for Jacob, that was his first thought when he met Amanda when they were just 5 years old! The two were being babysat together by Amanda’s older sister while their moms went shopping. Of course, Amanda was very upset that she wasn’t going shopping with them, and let them know through her tears.
While this first interaction was a little overwhelming, it didn’t take long for Jacob to warm up to Amanda. The two grew up together and eventually started dating. Eventually Jacob would have a moment while they were both at his grandparents house in Minnesota where he would realize that he didn’t want to spend any of his days without Amanda. Shortly after this, he planned a big surprise proposal for Amanda at Reiman Gardens in Ames. Surrounded by their family and friends (in hiding), Jacob asked Amanda to be his wife and she said a tear-filled yes! The sweetness of this story is magnified by the fact that this couple said that they wanted to be known for “being best friends first.” From being babysat together at 5 years old to saying “I do,” it’s so clear that these best friends are meant to spend all of their days together!Â
