Most couples know that living through a home renovation is a true test of your relationship. It can be a stressful experience! Katie & Landon are getting married this year, and in a way have already passed the test! They recently bought an older home, and have just completed a total gut and remodel of their kitchen, and they did a lot of the work themselves! I’ve seen the photos – they did a fantastic job. It looks amazing! I love a good fixer upper story like anyone else, so of course I loved hearing their proposal story that involved Landon popping the question right in front of their kitchen sink. Hopefully they will always have good memories whenever they do the dishes!
For their engagement session, we met at up at ISU in Ames on an abnormally warm January day. It felt like fall! I’ve been loving shooting at ISU this year. I’m not originally from Iowa and don’t have the roots and connections to the university and colleges that some people do (I’ve discovered there are some STRONG loyalties!) so exploring the campus has been really fun for me! In the last six months, I’ve photographed 2 weddings and 3 engagements there, and while I know some photographers don’t love shooting at the same place repeatedly, the fun part is finding new places and challenging yourself to see things with a fresh perspective. Since Katie and Landon are both alumni of ISU, we of course visited the campanile for the quintessential shot there, but we also explored a few little hidden spots as well. You’d never know that some of these were taken right by a parking garage!
Thanks Katie & Landon for meeting up in Ames – I can’t wait for your REAL fall wedding later this year!
I am obsessed with Katie’s hair – I love it!
So much joy in this one – love it!
Can’t wait for September for you guys!
