It’s been 15 years for these two, and yet, the celebration we had this past weekend in Decorah felt like young love at the very beginning. So much excitement and joy! And yet, there was also that familiarity that you have when you have spent years together. When I first saw Braham before their first look, he was a bit nervous and not too keen on being the center of attention. As soon as Anna arrived, you could just tell that she put him at ease and that he was comfortable now that his best friend was there. It was the sweetest thing! The entire day was filled with those mix of emotions – excitement, anticipation, friendship, and comfort. It was such a wonderful combination for this beautiful fall wedding.
Personally speaking, I absolutely fell in love with Decorah! I hadn’t been there before, but had heard from several friends that I would love it – they were totally right. It is such a perfect little town, unlike any other I’ve been to in Iowa. The bluffs and rivers and historic downtown – all of it made me just giddy! I cant wait to go back and photograph there again!
Anna & Braham (and their little Cora, too!) – congratulations! Thank you so much for welcoming me like an old friend on this most special day. It was truly an honor to capture your love and be part of the celebration. Thank you so much!
We started things off at the Hotel Winneshiek, which has been beautifully restored and was such a delightful setting for details and their ceremony & reception!
My jaw literally dropped when she gave me her ring to photograph – so grogeous!
Every girl loves a blue box from Tiffany’s on their wedding day…
I love love LOVED their self-designed letterpress invites – so classy and modern!
We did their first look at Phelps Park, overlooking the river. I adore this moment Anna had with her sister that my second shooter caught right before Anna saw Braham the first time!
This location was AMAZING!
Back into town for ceremony time!
A truly lucky moment I grabbed right afterwards between Anna and her dad…
Then we ran off to a few places in town real quick. This next one? Might be a new favorite!
Eat cake!
I’ve heard a LOT of speeches in my 7+ years photographing weddings, and usually that’s the time I really get to hear the best stories about a bride and groom. Their siblings both gave brief heartfelt toasts, but the moment that stood out? When Anna’s sister said she always wanted to be just like her growing up…and still does. Awwwwww!
