Natalie & Alex’s Summer Engagement Session at World Food Prize Garden & Waterworks Park

Everything about Natalie & Alex’s classic chic summer engagement session in downtown Des Moines along the waterfront by World Food Prize and their gardens is what we dream of for each of our couples! Perfect light, well-appointed attire, and lots of laughter and joy!

These two are high school sweethearts and have done the long distance thing, so planning their wedding for next year at Country Lane Lodge was the next step after a heartfelt proposal at the botanical gardens of Des Moines. We can’t wait for their wedding next spring!

Their engagement photos were photographed by our associate photographer Beth – we hope you enjoy some of our favorites!

Willow on Grand New Year’s Eve Wedding

Classic, chic, timeless. A little bit formal, but an incredible celebration. If I could describe the majority of our couples and weddings at Jennifer Weinman Photography, it would be that way. And Shelby and Jack’s Willow on Grand New Year’s Eve wedding was exactly that. Everything was perfectly planned, and the day was an incredible rush of jitters, joy, and cutting loose. It was also an amazing way to close down the 2022 wedding season – we loved it!

Shelby and Jack chose to get ready and have their wedding reception at Willow on Grand in Des Moines. Willow on Grand is a brand new venue in Des Moines that is elegant yet modern, with just the right amount of special touches, yet with enough options to make your wedding unique. We love the clean crisp whites mixed with the more modern blacks, along with the perfect reception chairs (seriously, ever venue take note — stylish chairs make a difference!)

Austin & Allison Engagement Session- World Food Prize

After growing up together in the same small town Austin and Allison didn’t start dating until college. Their parents were friends and they often socialized together as kids. Once they started dating it didn’t take long for them to know that this was meant to be.
Austin planned and coordinated the most epic surprise proposal. Allison was enjoying a girls night out at a winery in Indiana while Austin was supposedly back home in another state. When she and her friends were offered a tour of the winery, she was shocked to find Austin awaiting her with a ring! He even hired a photographer to capture the moment!

Emily & Taylor Engagement | World Food Prize

Emily and Taylor had the most perfect fall weather for their downtown engagement session. After meeting in college at a party, it didn’t take long for these two to know things were meant to be. During a trip to Hawaii, Taylor had planned an epic proposal on the beach at sunset, complete with hiring a photographer to capture their special moment.

We started on the perfectly manicured grounds of the World Food Prize building in Des Moines. We love to do engagement sessions here, as there is so much variety in such a small area. The steps on the front and back side of the building add so much detail to the final images. After exploring all of the little areas around the building and gardens, we headed down to the riverwalk for a totally different look and feel. We love to include different architectural details, like the bridges in the background
