It was a super cold New Year’s Eve day, but a perfect wedding day for Ashtia & John.  We gathered at St. Ambrose early in the afternoon for their wedding ceremony, followed by a small party to welcome the new year in style at the Des Moines Embassy Club!

Due to the frigid temperatures, we photographed almost everything indoors – but I loved this little corner tucked away at St. Ambrose!
We convinced the bride and groom to dare the outdoors for a brief moment – shivers cut things short, but less than 5 minutes enabled us to capture some of our favorite portraits!

In lieu of a bridal party, the couple had their parents stand as their witnesses during their vows.  I loved how personal this was for them.

A quick walk across the street (or ride on the shuttle!) had us over at the beautiful top floors of the Des Moines Embassy Club, decorated perfectly for a black tie celebration and to ring in the New Year!
