I’ve known her for almost ten years, and I can’t say enough about her. Â She’s the kindest, sweetest, most fun-loving-girl you could ever ask for as your first college roommate and friend. Â My first interaction with Torrey was a postcard she sent from Europe saying how excited she was for us to live together. Â That was just a taste of what was to come – she never forgets a birthday, always has homemade banners to celebrate the occasion, and will throw a party you’ll never forget. Â She makes it pretty hard not to like her. Â Or fall in love with her. Â And Yasin couldn’t resist her either!
They met in grad school at University of Wisconsin, he’s originally from Turkey, and she’s originally from Massachusetts. Â As fate would have it, one night during a pub crawl, they met…and after she ended the relationship with the other guy she was with that night, they were soon inseparable.
I was incredibly excited to finally meet Yasin and catch up with Torrey in Dubuque for their engagement session.  We wandered around near the warehouse district, and then headed out to the beautiful Mines of Spain.  The weather was perfect!  I can’t wait for their wedding in July at Badger Farms near Madison, Wisconsin.
They’ve done salsa dancing lessons together, and I have to say, they have some good moves!  I vote for you to salsa for your first dance 🙂
Yasin’s got the look down.
Attempting a new pose, combined with slightly different post-processing. Â Not my usual style, but I thought I’d give it a try.
I hope Torrey doesn’t hate me for saying this, but I love this photo below because she looks a lot like her mother, who is simply the most wonderful person on earth. Â I remember spending time with them in college for Thanksgiving break and playing family games together – her family is a blast!
After changing clothes, we headed out just south of Dubuque to the Mines of Spain, right by the riverfront.
Perhaps one of my most favorite photos from the entire session.
But then these next two really show the closeness they share, and the sweetness of their relationship…
As well as how playful they are!
A little bit vintage, and a little bit fierce…
Thanks for a wonderful day in Dubuque!  I can’t wait to see you both again soon 🙂
