Back in January, I met another photographer named Allison via OSP (Open Source Photo – an awesome online community for photographers!) when she was looking for assistant photographers to second-shoot a few weddings with her this season. We exchanged a few emails, and I made the trip out to Des Moines to meet her in person. We seemed to click right off the batt, and I was surprised by how much we had in common! Love of running, photography, and both of us have have experience in campus ministry (her with Navigators, me with InterVarsity). If ever there could be a great match for photographers to work together, this was definitely it! Last weekend was our first time working together, and it was a blast. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to second-shoot alongside such a talented and wonderful person. Thank you Allison, and I’m looking forward to the next one!
Lucky for me, this wedding was absolutely breathtaking! There were so many details, gorgeous florals, and a beautiful couple. This post will be LONG, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. For Allison’s full take on Hilary & Clinton’s wedding day, go here.
These shoes were her inspiration for all the wedding colors. Aren’t they fabulous?
Hilary & Clinton chose not to see each other before their ceremony, so we did bridal party photos separate, and snagged a few of just Hilary.
Their ceremony was held at this beautiful outdoor fireplace at Des Moines Water Works Park. When I first saw the ceremony site, my jaw dropped – it was like a fairytale!
It may be difficult to tell, but this was one of the first truly hot summer days in Iowa. I’m sure guests were grateful for the lemonade and yummy cupcakes!
The florals were beautiful!
Their ceremony was so emotional and sweet!
I loved this sweet moment between Hilary & Clinton, and their grandparents.
After their wedding ceremony, we transitioned to Hotel Fort Des Moines, a beautiful historic hotel in downtown Des Moines that is classy and elegant.
Loved the combination of florals and lamps on the tables with the yellow and blue colors! It was stunning!
Congrats to Hilary & Clinton, and thank you for allowing me to be part of their day, Allison!
