Introducing Our New Associate – Meet Beth!

Nearing the end of 2018, we opened up our application process to search for a new associate for JWP.  After interviews with several candidates, and lots of chatting back and forth, I am so excited to introduce our new JWP associate, Beth!  Her and I have worked several times before and I’ve seen her photograph weddings firsthand.  She is incredibly talented, friendly, and a calming presence on any wedding day.  I know that she will do an amazing job serving our JWP couples for 2019 and beyond! Here’s a little bit more about Beth, in her own words!

Meet Beth!

I am so excited to be joining the JWP team! After working with Jen several times this last year, it was a natural choice to join her team as an Associate Wedding Photographer. I am excited to bring my artistry, passions, and experience to the table and I know it will just add to the JWP wedding experience for everyone I work with!

Ever since I was a little girl, I was learning about photography from my grandfather. He was a master storyteller and photographer. Every image told a story and he loved to tell them to me. He would teach me about lighting and composition and go into great detail about what made each image so special. He has passed away now, but he would have been so proud to see that I fulfilled his dream of making photography a career. I am privileged to have learned from someone so talented.

I have lived in Iowa for the last 15 years and absolutely love it here. But I was born and raised on a small farm in New England. Old buildings, quaint towns, mountains, and the ocean all call my heart. But Iowa has its own beauty. The people, the landscapes and places, and our rich culture have made me fall in love with the midwest. As a mom, it’s a perfect place to call home and raise my family!

A little about me personally:  I love food and health and being outside. I would pick a walk in the woods in any weather, any day over a movie at home. But if I am watching tv, it’s definitely going to be an English period drama like Downton Abbey. I love to imagine living in a different era and in different cultures! And if I could travel anywhere, my first choice would be England. I would look at the streets and the buildings and the architecture and think of all of the stories that could be told from the rich history of people that have lived there. I dream of spending a few weeks there with my family and my camera, exploring and taking it all in!

I can’t wait to meet you – let me know if you have any other things you’d like to know about me!

About JWP Associate Weddings

We get a lot of questions from inquiring couples about our JWP associate weddings, so here’s a few quick answers to those questions for those who are curious about how it all works!  If you have more questions, please leave a comment and we will try to answer them.

When we choose to have Beth as our photographer, will we get to meet with her in advance of our wedding day?

YES.  We are firm believers in having a connection with our couples, so we will definitely meet our couples in person ahead of time so that we can get to know you!  You’l have an engagement session with Beth, as well as a few other interaction as well.

Will associate images look like Jen’s images?

While we aren’t identical photographers, Jen and Beth have worked together to hone a style that is cohesive no matter who you choose to photograph your day.  All editing is handled by the JWP studio, and so the final look and style of your images will represent the JWP brand through and through.  Beth and Jen shoot together regularly and we even have image critiques, so we are definitely learning and growing TOGETHER!  It’s a team environment for sure, and we all want to give our clients the very best.

Do we still get a second photographer/assistant?

Yes.  We include a second photographer for all of our weddings with the exception of elopements and weddings with fewer than 50 guests.

How do associate weddings differ from weddings with Jen?

Other than the obvious fact that Beth is your main photographer on your wedding day, the biggest difference is that the overall package is simpler and more budget friendly.  Our associate weddings do not include a wedding album, though you may certainly choose to add one on.

Will Beth travel for weddings?

Yes, definitely!

How many weddings is Beth available for?

“As many as I can do!” <- Beth’s words!   Ha!

How do we book a wedding with Beth?

That’s easy!  Just send us your info via our contact form, and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can with all the details!

We can’t WAIT for all of the amazing weddings Beth will photograph in 2019!   If you recently got engaged and are on the hunt for a photographer, please get in touch! This gorgeous photograph below was shot by Beth, and we want YOU to be just as over the moon excited about your wedding day experience as the rest of our JWP brides!
