I’m so excited to kick off the 2015 wedding season with this beautiful winter wedding for Jaime & Nick! We could seriously not have asked for a more perfect winter landscape and weather! After a HUGE snowstorm earlier in the week, and some frosty temperatures, it warmed up quite a bit by Saturday. So much so that I was emailing Jaime on Thursday letting her know some of my plans to keep her dress from getting soggy or ruined by all the dirty slushy snow! Trashbags and giant cardboard boxes can come in handy for weddings 🙂 But luckily, we didn’t really have to resort to that other than for one particular moment. We completely lucked out! I have to give a HUGE thank you to their bridal party too – they didn’t complain once about being outside for photos. They were FABULOUS!
To Nick & Jaime – I absolutely LOVED spending the day photographing your wedding. From the moment I arrived and Jaime’s grandma greeted me, to the end of the night when your friends said, “See ya later!” – I was welcomed with open arms. Everyone was so helpful, friendly, and FUN! I had a blast. And I couldn’t have asked for a more gracious couple – you guys handled the weather like pros! Thanks for being so awesome. Congrats, and I hope you had fun in St. Lucia!
We started off the day at the Sheraton in Iowa City for details. I arrived to this amazingly gorgeous (and tiny! Jaime is itty bitty!) gown. So stunning!
Jaime’s bridesmaids helped her into her dress – I always love this time! Why? Because the nerves, anticipation, and excitment are just rising to the surface. So close to the big moment!
Jaime and Nick had their ceremony at the Old Capitol in Iowa City. We did their first look right in front, and it was perfect!
Bridal party time!
We then headed inside for a few family formal group photos. I don’t normally blog those because there are SO many and I don’t want to leave anyone out, so instead, I’ll just share this solo bridal shot of Jaime – doesn’t she look amazing?
We had a little extra time, and Nick & Jaime needed a bit of a break from the crowd of family, so we stole a few moments right before their ceremony as the sun was setting for a few more photos of just the two of them. These might be my favorite from the whole day!
Wedding time!
Back to the Sheraton for their gorgeous reception!
Jaime & Nick shared a lovely first dance (with me gently encouraging them to try a spin – thanks for humoring me!) and then celebrated the rest of the night with the amazing talents of The Funk Daddies – so MUCH FUN!
