A few years ago, I photographed Jonathan’s older brother’s senior photos (you can see that session here) – I’m always so grateful to work with returning clients and family members. It just makes everything so easy and effortless! It also helps that Jonathan’s dad works right alongside my husband. In fact, their offices are right next door to one another. Needless to say, I’ve gotten to know their family a bit better over the past few years, so photographing Jonathan was pretty straightforward and easy!
We started off Jonathan’s session outside near Grinnell College. In my opinion, for whatever it’s worth, every senior guy should plan at least one “dressy” outfit. I know it’s not every guy’s favorite thing in the world to don a tie, but I also think it’s classic and will never go out of style.
When we met for Jonathan’s ordering appointment, I distinctly recall quite the debate about the serious photo above, versus several smiling ones. I always always hope to capture both genuine smiles, as well as more thoughtful or serious expressions.
An outfit change…
Swimming is a big part of Jonathan’s high school life, as well as football and theater. It seemed appropriate to grab a few at the main pool where he competes in town.
