A few years ago, I photographed Jonathan’s older brother’s senior photos (you can see that session here) – I’m always so grateful to work with returning clients and family members. Â It just makes everything so easy and effortless! Â It also helps that Jonathan’s dad works right alongside my husband. Â In fact, their offices are right next door to one another. Â Needless to say, I’ve gotten to know their family a bit better over the past few years, so photographing Jonathan was pretty straightforward and easy!
We started off Jonathan’s session outside near Grinnell College. Â In my opinion, for whatever it’s worth, every senior guy should plan at least one “dressy” outfit. Â I know it’s not every guy’s favorite thing in the world to don a tie, but I also think it’s classic and will never go out of style.
When we met for Jonathan’s ordering appointment, I distinctly recall quite the debate about the serious photo above, versus several smiling ones.  I always always hope to capture both genuine smiles, as well as more thoughtful or serious expressions.
An outfit change…
Swimming is a big part of Jonathan’s high school life, as well as football and theater. Â It seemed appropriate to grab a few at the main pool where he competes in town.
