Imagen AI Review: Save Time on Editing in Lightroom

If there’s one thing that became the IT thing near the end of 2022 and throughout 2023, it was AI, short for artificial intelligence. In this Imagen AI review, I’m going to share my impressions of this software, a bit about my workflow, and how Imagen AI has impacted my editing process in general in Lightroom and my business.

(Both of the images above were edited using Imagen AI – an artificial intelligence powered editing software for photographers)

Imagen AI is an artificial intellegence software that uses deep learning that is cloud-based (meaning, you need access to the internet for it to work) but runs in an app on your computer to edit your photos using AI. Imagen works through a process of learning your editing style – that is why it is called AI. Imagen also has a variety of editing styles already available (known as Talent Profiles) that you can choose from if you want to get started immediately without going through the process of training Imagen AI in your editing style. Currently, Imagen AI is available at a variety of subscription levels with a pay-per-photo plan as well as an annual subscription at different tiers corresponding to the quantity of photos you plan to edit.

Des Moines fall engagement session

Anna & Noah’s Fall Engagement Session

This beautiful fall engagement session photographed by Beth took place at the Des Moines Arts Center and featured some of the BEST fall colors I’ve ever seen! We were almost rained out for the session, with rain showers predicted for the entire day, but for Anna & Noah, they were willing to take a little bit of a chance and it ended up being perfect! Plus, we loved that they brought their adorable pup too!

Anna is a past client of mine, I photographed her senior photos a few years ago, and reuniting with her and Noah for their wedding and engagement photos is such an honor. They are the kindest couple and have been through SO much in the past 3 years. I’ve never met a couple that has conquered so much before their wedding day, and it has made them stronger. Their wedding will be next summer at Rollins Mansion and we can’t wait!

Mandy & James Early Fall Engagement Photos

James & Mandy will be getting married next year and Beth met up for their engagement session in mid-October when it was abnormally warm and still looking a little bit like summer even though it was fall. This beautiful session took place at the Des Moines Arts Center and Rose Garden.

First – this adorable family photo with the dogs!

Little Lights on the Lane Wedding for Alyssa & Brandon

Summer Little Lights on the Lane Wedding

What a PERFECT summer wedding day this was! Little Lights on the Lane is one of the best wedding venues in Iowa. Not only is it incredible well thought out in terms of the space, but it is a photographer’s playground – SO many little spots for photos, unique decor, beautiful landscaping. It’s one of my top recommended venues. And I think when couples visit, they immediately fall in love. I know that was the case for Alyssa & Brandon!

When Alyssa & Brandon first reached out about their wedding day, one of the things Alyssa mentioned that was hugely important to her was having an stress-free day….and sunset photos. She definitely DEFINITELY wanted beautiful sunset photos. When their wedding day came, we were blessed with quite possibly the most perfect summer weather you could ask for and some of my favorites sunset photos of the year.

Classic Summer Wedding at Rollins Mansion

Brooke & Levi’s classic summer wedding at Rollins Mansion in Des Moines was beautiful, emotional and full of all the moments you dream of as a photographer. It was such a heartfelt day that was overflowing with all of the emotions. There were lots of tears, but all were of joy! If the first looks between the couple and their parents weren’t enough, I knew that the ceremony was going to be the pinnacle. Brooke and Levi opted not to do a first look, and as soon as Brooke rounded the corner, I think we all started crying just watching Brooke & Levi get emotional themselves! It was beautiful.

This was an incredible day, and the more I try to write about it, the more difficult it gets. When you have a couple totally in love, with families that are welcoming and fun-loving, the day feels like a breeze. Thanks for making my job easy and throwing a rager of a party!
