Kayla and David are one of the couples where when you meet them, you know whatever words are spoken, they are full of meaning. Â When they first contacted me about photographing their wedding, the main thing they were somewhat concerned about is that they are both shy and quiet, and aren’t particularly fond of the spotlight or having photographs taken. Â But they also knew how important documenting their wedding day was to them, and so finding a photographer who they felt comfortable with was incredibly important. Â Kayla had first found me after I had photographed another couple in Washington, IA a few years ago, and so there was already a bit of familiarity, but then once we chatted, she knew we’d be a good team. Â All throughout out their day, there was a sense of calm and serenity. Â Everyone was so incredibly kind to us, and what few words that were exchanged (remember, they are quiet!) were always the perfect ones. Â To each other, and to everyone else.
Here are a few of my favorites from their day – enjoy!
Kayla looked positively regal in her wedding dress. Â It was perfect for her.
This sweet hug from her mom after their wedding was one of my favorite moments.
Love these!
Having photographed weddings in Washington before, I knew there weren’t a ton of great options for sunset photos, but I did know of this PERFECT weeping willow tree right across from their reception hall. However…it was in someone’s yard. Â My wonderful second shooter went and knocked on their door and asked if we could take wedding photos, and they knew the couple! Â They were more than thrilled that we wanted to feature their wonderful tree. Â These ended up being their favorites!
Congrats Kayla & David!
