Filled with much joy and excitement, it was an honor to be part of Magen & Justin’s wedding day. With family gathered from near and far, they exchanged vows at Capitol Lutheran, and then celebrated at the Des Moine Savery Hotel. I always tell brides that at the end of the day, you will be married, regardless of how everything goes. Even when the priest mixes up the bride and grooms name (multiple times!), you’re still going to be married at the end of the day! And that was true for them. It’s definitely something they’ll never forget, and hopefully in a few years time, they can have a good laugh about it too. 🙂
Magen & Justin, thank your for allowing me to be part of your day. Magen and I comiserated in our tiredness and not feeling super great (bad sleep and stomach bugs all around), Justin and his groomsmen kept it lighthearted and fun during our portrait time, and I’ll never forget that moment of anticipation on the footbridge when you were about to see each other for the first time, and I was worried I’d die from fear of heights! Good thing you two were not even a little bit aware, and I was able to focus on that wonderful moment! Happy 1 month anniversary – cheers!
I am in LOVE with her wedding ring set and invitations. In love.
Badgleys and boots – a great combo!
Magen had a penny in her shoe in honor of her grandma. Love that!
A last minute call to none other than the groom!
Meanwhile…
Off to the first look! Like I said, I was SO nervous about being on this footbridge. Not only is it super high over the river, but it was also very sunny. But these ended up being some of my favorites from the day!
Off to get married!
One thing I was SO excited about was the sword arch!
Love this one that my second shooter got of Magen with her brother Eric!
We went to the Des Moines Arts Center for bridal party portraits and some lovely bride and groom portraits – it was SO gorgeous!
A few very important friends and family 🙂

Ha!
Time to party!
I love love LOVE when couples are up for some sunset portraits. It is always so much more relaxing than any other time of day, and they end up being some of my favorites! We walked over to the World Food Prize Building, just a few short blocks away, for these and I’m SO glad we did!
Time to dance!
And, we shall end with this…
