As a wedding photography business, we get to hear couple’s stories all the time. And it is always one of the sweetest things to hear the couples talk about their love for each other and their excitement to be marrying their person. But few people speak as enthusiastically and as passionately as these two about each other. More specifically, it was so special to hear the amount of times that this wedding was referred to as a “dream come true”!
Margo and Tanner met while they were working at a bar together in college. She was a cocktail waitress and he was the bartender and he caught her eye almost immediately. While it was evident that they had very different personalities (she was outgoing and he was quiet and shy), the two couldn’t stay away from each other and started officially dating after one of their work parties. One of the coolest parts of their story is that Margo asked Tanner to come on a family vacation with them just a few short months after they started dating. And not just any family vacation, but one that included 60 members of her extended family and 8 days of time all together. Margo says that she didn’t intend this to be a test, but after realizing that all of her family members are a lot like her, it was clear that this was going to be very telling of where their relationship was headed. And lucky for both of them, Tanner had a great time and the whole family approved!
It’s these little details in their story that make these photos that much sweeter. Margo and Tanner have such a clear love of each other and such a deep emphasis on family. That was so evident on their wedding day and in these pictures, and Clear Lake, Iowa created such a fun and unique backdrop for their wedding day. Take a look!

There’s so much sweetness in this little detail of Margo’s wedding dress.
Sometimes the phrase “it takes a village” even applies to getting a wedding dress on!
This first look with Margo’s dad was so heartfelt! Being a witness to these moments is such a joy.
The combination of the simplicity of the dress and the flowers created such a classic and beautiful look.
It’s easy to only focus on the beautiful portraits of the bride and miss the cool shots of the groom on his special day. And it’s always good to give the bride a phone background for after the wedding!
These little details add such a fun and unforgettable element to the day and the photos. Not to mention that it’s always a good idea to capitalize on things that you can basically only use on the wedding day!
These velvety black bridesmaids dresses were so unique! They looked amazing next to Margo’s true white dress and were so flattering on everyone.
Margo’s smile coupled with the side eyed expression of this maid of honor makes me think that they both knew how ready and excited Margo was for this moment.
Pro tip: Invite your photographer on your party bus! It’s always one of the most fun and carefree parts of the day and you’ll want to remember these moments.
Margo wore this sweet excited smile basically all day!
Margo and Tanner had such a lovely day! You can see how much they love each other and how loved they are by the people around them in these photos. Their wedding was such a joyful celebration and we wish them continued joy throughout all of their lives together! Congratulations again Margo and Tanner!
