In July, Meg and Joe gathered their friends and family at Sugar Grove Vineyard in Newton for their Iowa destination wedding. Â I know most people probably don’t consider Iowa a “destination” but for Meg and Joe, it was! Â Coming from California, they wanted something just a little bit different for their celebration. Meg had attended college in Iowa at Grinnell College, and always loved Iowa and nothing seemed better than going back to one of her favorite places with all of her favorite people…to get married!
I hope you enjoy viewing one of the most heartfelt and beautiful weddings we captured this year. Â Meg and Joe are incredibly kind – and when their guests shared blessings over them during their reception toasts, you could tell how much of an impact these two have had on the people they trust the most. Â Â Congratulations to Meg & Joe!

This incredible pocket square bout by my friend Mandy from M. Klyn Floral Design is my absolute FAVORITE I’ve ever seen. Â So beautiful!
Their quilt was a gift from many contributing family members and friends.
Homemade pickles as favors!
The small grange is an older building right next to the newer barn at Sugar Grove, and this is typically where rehearsal dinners are held and the groom and groomsmen get ready.
Meg has a great sense of humor – loved this!
Even though we were anticipating hot July temps, it turned out to be PERFECT outside for their ceremony!
A celebratory toast for the crowd before we enjoyed a lovely dinner inside the barn.
Meg and her father shared the sweetest dance together.
Just before the sun finally dipped down below the horizon, we ran outside for a few portraits with the final bit of light. Â My favorites from the entire day! Â This is why I try to convince every couple to do sunset photos – its the best!
Sugar Grove Vineyard has become one of my favorite venues for so many reasons. Â Colette, the owner, is so devoted to each couple that gets married there. Â She’s an incredible resource and goes above and beyond. Â As a photographer, I adore working with her. Â But also…you really can’t beat the incredible Iowa sunsets looking out over the hills. Â It never fails to be spectacular.
Congrats to the newlyweds!
