Photographing weddings for Grinnell College alumni is probably one of my favorite things. I love when two people come back to the original place they fell in love! Plus, the campus is just beautiful and an easy place to photograph (not to mention, an easy place to host a wedding! Rachel in Conference Operations will take care of EVERYTHING!) For Shoshana & Ryan, the day couldn’t have gone more smoothly. It was filled with emotion, nostalgia, joy, and FUN! We even revisited the first place they met – a “sketchy” house on the main drag of student rental houses here in Grinnell for old times sake and had a good laugh. Ha!
Shosh & Ryan – thank you SO much for welcoming me on your wedding day. It was an honor to capture every moment, and I had so much fun doing it! Cheers!
I was welcomed warmly early in the day when Shosh was getting her hair done. Ever the independent woman and fashion-guru, she got ready on her own, in her own custom altered (by her, no less!) wedding dress!
Ceremony Venue: Grinnell College (Main Campus)
Reception Venue: Grinnell College JRC
Florals: Bates Flowers
I LOVED their invitations!
I have photographed quite a few weddings, and every once in a while, a moment comes along that you will never forget. The time Ryan first saw Shosh was one of those – I don’t think he was expecting to be quite so overcome with emotion!
Paude for a photo bomb…lol!
Part of the Jewish wedding includes the signing of the Ketubah, which is the marriage “contract” (that’s the best way I can describe it). Basically, when it is signed, THAT’S the wedding. It’s super meaningful, and a wonderful time for family.
We then had a GORGEOUS outdoor ceremony, under a handmade huppah made from a quilt that included small blocks from each of their guests – it was part of their wedding RSVP! How, COOL is that!?!
Because they didn’t have a bridal party, we had TONS of time for a few portraits around campus!
During cocktail hour, Ryan sang this wonderful song to Shosh – not a dry in the house, I’m telling ya!
If you are looking for a place for a reception in Grinnell that’s not too big or too small, the JRC 101 space is SO NICE! I love it.
This light…this dance…this moment!
Friends and family celebrated until late hours of the night!
Even the waiters joined in, at Ryan & Shosh’s request!
Congrats to you both!
