Whether you’re dating, engaged, or have been married for years, carving out time for a date night with your person is one of the most beneficial things you can do! If you haven’t encountered it yet, a time will come where you will realize that the busyness of life can get in the way of a growing relationship with your spouse, girlfriend or boyfriend, or fiance. It’s easy to get into the routine of going through the motions of everyday life and you find yourself in a rut of acting more like roommates or coworkers than people who are in love. Obviously there are seasons in life where it doesn’t feel like carving out a date night is necessary because you’re getting a lot of time together, and other seasons will feel like date night is the only time that you’re able to see each other in the week. Regardless of the season that you’re in, finding time for a date night or a date day will always have a positive impact on your relationship!
The difference between seeing each other in everyday life and finding time for an intentional date night is that it allows for your time and conversation to be shaped by caring for each other. It’s not the typical communication that occurs everyday that is often reactive to whatever is going on in your lives. But when you have that time set apart, it allows for you to get to know each other more, grow in love for each other, and look forward to all of the hopes that you have for your relationship! When date night is a priority in your life, it can carry you through the busy seasons because you have the comfort of knowing that no matter what else is going on, you’ll always have that set apart time together to reconnect.
Below is a list of some date night ideas that we think are fun and will create an atmosphere of laughter, connection, conversation, and times to grow together while making memories. Another way to add some excitement to date night would be to write down the date night ideas (and your own) and put them in a jar so you can pull out a date night idea for when you’re having a hard time choosing what to do!
Here are some date night suggestions to put in the jar!
