It’s been a little bit quiet here on the blog lately, but I promise I haven’t been slacking off! Â Instead, I’ve been SUPER busy! Â As soon as I arrived back in Iowa, I jumped back in with both feet. Â Since August 1st, I think I’ve done 12 shoots, one wedding, a number of consultations and ordering appointments, as well as traveled to Milwaukee to visit friends, and tried to maintain a normal sleep schedule. Â And LOTS of editing!
One of my favorite things from this month has been getting to know a wonderful friend and fellow photographer, Aly Carroll. Â She is the absolute sweetest! Â We actually connected via a Facebook group for Iowa wedding photographers, and we just hit it off. Â Earlier in August, Aly came out to Grinnell to “shadow” me for a senior shoot I had. Â She grabbed a whole bunch of behind-the-scenes shots that I just absolutely LOVE! Â Here’s one quick one I finally edited today:
There are so many more, and I had so much fun looking through them. Â I learned that I definitely stick my stomach out a LOT when I shoot!!! Â Pretty hysterical, actually.
This past weekend, I was able to return the favor to Aly and second shoot a wedding with her in Des Moines at Sticks. Â Here’s a quick sneak peek from Mallory & Nick’s first look at the World Food Prize building right along the river in downtown:
I hope to share more from this beautiful wedding soon, I had such a wonderful time working with Aly, in addition to Mallory & Nick and their entire family. Â Such a memorable day!
In addition to all of this, I’ve been taking a photography class, working to prepare for next year’s bridal season, and establishing a new in-home studio space! Â Yes, you read that right — I’m going to be converting a part of our basement into a consultation space, with a small shooting area (only big enough for high school seniors or babies). Â I’m super excited to share that with you when it’s complete! Â There’s still some furniture to move around, pieces to buy, and planning to be done, but I think it’s going to be fabulous.
The next few weeks will continue to be busy with weddings and senior shoots, but I’m so grateful for all of the AMAZING people I’ve been able to work with recently. Â Thank you so much for trusting me and giving me the great opportunity to capture your memories and moments. Â It’s been an amazing few weeks!
