We are cruising through June, which means that we are also cruising through the wedding season! It’s been so fun to get to photograph so many beautiful days! With weddings being close for so many of our couples, we thought it might be helpful to do a Wedding Wednesday blog post centered around the honeymoon. More specifically, what to pack for your honeymoon! The days leading up to the wedding are filled with the final to-do list items, and typically one of those list items is packing for the honeymoon. Whether you are going tropical or woodsy, active or restful, adventurous or familiar, there are certain items that transcend all trips! Here is a non-exclusive list of some things that you may not think of but can greatly enhance your trip.
Sunscreen
Regardless of the type of trip that you’re taking, if you’re going to be spending any time outside, it’ll be a good idea to pack sunscreen! Getting a sunburn on your trip can greatly decrease the amount of fun that you’re able to have. You don’t want to feel like you can’t move or that you need to stay out of the sun the following day to let your skin heal. Especially if you’re going someplace tropical, you’ll want to keep in mind that the sun is a lot stronger there, so don’t be afraid of a higher SPF!
Waterproof Phone Case
This is an especially good idea if you’re going to be at a beach or water of any kind! But even if you’re just going to be outside or doing something active for a lot of the trip, there’s a good chance that you’ll find yourself in a situation where you’d want to have a waterproof phone case! Not to mention, some of the pictures you could get with a case like this are amazing!
Athleisure Wear/Comfy Clothes
It’s easy to think about packing for the honeymoon and feel like you need a lot of nice clothing for fancy vacation-wear. But the truth is, you’ll probably spend a lot of time just wanting to be comfortable! You’ll have just finished one of the best and most exhausting events of your life and you and your spouse are going to be ready for some chill time. Plan to wear clothes that you’re comfortable in! Both for activities and for just sitting around your hotel room or Airbnb.
A Waterbottle
Pro tip: If you’re honeymooning at an all-inclusive resort, they will fill whatever container you give them with a drink of your choice! If you want to save yourself some trips to the bar, pack an insulated water bottle to be filled and kept cold while you’re relaxing outside! Or if you’re planning a more active honeymoon, having a water bottle along will keep you safe and hydrated for whatever adventuring you’re doing together!
A Disposable Camera
This may seem silly since your phone can take great pictures and you’ll have them forever, but bringing along a disposable camera can be really fun! You don’t know what the pictures are going to come out like and you’ll have fun trying to take the best pictures since you only have a certain number. A disposable camera will enhance the opportunities for memory making, and will ensure that you end up with some prints from your honeymoon!
Something New
While we definitely suggest packing a lot of comfortable clothes, it can also be fun to pick out a few new items that you’re purchasing specifically for the honeymoon! Whether it’s a new dress, swimsuit, lingerie, or shoes. Find something that you feel confident in and makes you excited to show off to your new husband or wife! This obviously isn’t a necessity at all, but can be something fun!
Games to Play
This may not seem like the most romantic honeymoon activity, but sometimes you’ll be so wiped out that all you want to do is just sit together. And a game can be a really fun addition to these moments! Whether you’re playing it while having drinks, sitting on a beach, or while hanging out in the hotel room, it will add some fun and excitement! It’s also fun to bring along a “Chat Pack” or some game that has a lot of questions that you can ask each other. Now that you’re married, you may feel like you’ve outgrown the “getting to know you” questions, but you can never have enough!
Whether you pack all of these things, or none of these things, your honeymoon is bound to be one of the most memorable weeks of your life! We hope that it’s filled with relaxation, memories, growth, and a lot of laughs as you enter into a new season of life together!
