One thing I love about photographing weddings, is you get a glimpse into people’s lives on their MOST important day.  I get to be part of their happiest day!  And even though there’s lots of little things to stress out about on a wedding day, when a couple finds their comfort and peace when they are together and all the craziness fades away, you know it’s not just going to be a good day, it’s going to be a good marriage.  And that’s what it’s all about anyways, right?  Beautiful details and pretty blush bridesmaid’s dresses are of course fun to photograph, but it’s the emotion and the powerful connections that make wedding days so wonderful!  When Cara & Eric had rain start sprinkling in the middle of their portrait time, they didn’t flinch.  When construction in their tiny town of Cascade, Iowa had quite a few people running behind, Cara didn’t worry a bit.  Neither of them stressed out about anything because they knew that at the end of the day, they were going to be married to their best friend, and that’s all that really mattered.
We started the day at the mother of the groom’s house, and I walked in to see Cara’s stunning beaded gown!
This daddy-daughter first look was my favorite!
We drove down to one of the cow pastures by the family pond, where Eric waited to see his beautiful bride!
If you look closely, you can see the rain droplets in the water – we had about 5 seconds before we almost got soaked!
This impromptu kiss was one of my favorites from the day!
On the top of Eric’s mom’s request list was a traditional portrait inside the church (to match the siblings) and so we spent a few minutes inside capturing a few more couples portraits and group photos.
We somehow forgot to bring along Eric & Cara’s letters they had prepared for one another, so we finally found a bit of time before the ceremony for them to exchange them. Â And seriously….these expressions say it all!
Here she comes!
This spot….so perfect!
The guys had to celebrate!
Cara, you were such a stunning bride!
Off to their gorgeous reception!
If you didn’t already know this about me, the dessert table is by far the most important part of any reception 😉  Cake and cupcakes and cookies…yum!
We were blessed with THE most perfect sunset!
Congrats to Cara & Eric!  You guys are the best 🙂
