Felicia and Austin had the most perfect fall wedding at Sugar Grove Vineyard & Gathering Place in Newton – one of my absolute favorite wedding venues! Â The crisp temperatures had arrived the day before, there was a chill in the air and a lot of wind. Â Still, they held their ceremony overlooking the pond and the expansive fields of Iowa, giving a sense of hope for everyone.
We started their day with beautiful fall-inspired details inside the barn at Sugar Grove.
Felicia visited Kleinfeld’s in NYC to get her STUNNING wedding gown. It was incredible
This was our day – joy and fun! Â It’s perfect for Felicia!
One of my FAVORITE bridal portraits of 2019.
When Felicia asked her grandpa to bless their marriage right before their wedding ceremony, there was not a dry eye in the room. Â He spoke of centering a marriage upon faith in Jesus and always being there for the ones you care about. Â This moment was one of the most memorable of the whole day.
Weddings at Sugar Grove are typically held outdoors, and when it’s fall, it tends to be windy and a bit chilly here in Iowa. Â But we just bundled up (blankets were available) and enjoyed the beautiful views overlooking the countryside!
Felicia and Austin chose not to see one another before their ceremony, so walking down the aisle was a BIG moment for them.
They built a cross, surrounded by the names of their family members, the perfect foundation for starting their marriage.
I am in LOVE with the incredible flowers that Felicia chose for her wedding. Â The perfect blend of fall and a hint of the end of summer too.
We squeezed in the majority of our bridal party and couples portraits after their ceremony, and had a ton of fun laughing together and fighting against the insane wind.
The story behind this photo is rather hilarious, but basically….they all started RUNNING – and I think Felicia was just trying desperately not to fall on her dress or with her train of her dress getting tangled in her legs. Â So this right here….this is a look of desperation! Â LOL!
When a bride wears a long veil to a wedding, you can be sure we will do a photo like this. Â One of my absolute favorites, and I’m so glad you can see the incredible view of the Iowa countryside.
I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph several weddings at Sugar Grove in Newton. Â It never fails to be one of my favorite venues. Â Colette and her team go above and beyond, and everything always looks beautiful. Â I love the beautiful centerpieces combined with the deer antler and wood slice – it’s the perfect mix of elegance and rustic, which really fits Felicia and Austin well.
Cherry pie – yum!
This wedding one is a favorite for fall decor and floral inspiration. Â I just all of it!
A fun entrance from the bridal party started off the festivities.
Normally I don’t share many cake cutting photos, but this was epic!
Time to get the dancing started!
Congratulations Felicia and Austin!  What a way to get the fall wedding season started!  For another recent Sugar Grove wedding, head here. We love love LOVE this place!
