I am fast approaching my due date for Baby W #2 and it is kind of hard to believe! Â This pregnancy has flown by. Â With all the travel we did this summer and an insanely busy fall wedding and senior season, it’s almost like this little peanut’s arrival has snuck up on me. Â I’ve wrapped up most of my client orders for the year, all of the wedding albums have been designed and set off to be bound, and most of the baby stuff is ready and waiting. Â And that’s pretty much what I’m doing now…waiting! Â
I’ve never been a particularly patient person, but this time around, I’m totally okay with Baby W taking his (yes, it’s another boy!) time. Â Sure, I’m terribly uncomfortable and awkwardly huge and wouldn’t mind feeling less like I have a 25 pound bowling ball duct taped to my front side, but…these are my final days with out sweet family of three and my precious first born little guy. Â Seeing him grow up this year and get ready to be big brother has been SO fun, and I’m just soaking it all in.
It’s slightly bittersweet for me to think of Gus as being a big brother.  On one hand, I’m excited for him.  I think he’ll love having a little brother and playmate (once he’s big enough!) and I can’t wait for the funny games and hilarious antics they get into together.  But on the other hand, I’m sort of mourning the loss of being able to give Gus my undivided attention and focus, and of him being my “little baby”.  He’s definitely NOT little any more – kid is getting heavy!!!  But seriously, I’ve been really trying to treasure these sweet little moments we get together the last few days, because I know very soon it’s all going to change!  Instead of rushing our reading time or avoiding playing outside (it’s been so unseasonably warm for December!) I’ve been trying to slow down and just be with him.  I’m so thankful we’ve had these extra days together before the arrival of Baby W.  They’ve been the best!
*Many thanks to my husband for humoring me and taking these few shots of Gus and I goofing around about a month ago. Â They were shot using the last few frames of film on my Pentax 645n, with Fuji 400H film. Â I’d say he did a pretty good job!
